In 2000, Ferdinand Piech, chairman of Volkswagen announce that their Bugatti Veyron will go into production and will be the world's fastest, most powerful and most expensive car in history, at least for a road legal car.

It indeed became what he said, it is the world's fastest, most powerful road legal car, but it already its title as the world's most expensive car.
